We are in desperate need of volunteers, churchs, classrooms, community service groups..... to write and send 10 uplifting cards or letters to those who are hospitalized or incarcerated due to the complications of mental illness.
Some people go through treatment without a single visitor. No cards, no calls, no signs that someone cares. Visits from family and friends are often few or nonexistent.
That’s where Letters of Hope comes in.
This new initiative from was created to reach those who don’t have family or friends showing up for them. Each month, we send handwritten letters filled with love, encouragement, and support — simple reminders that they are not alone and that they are part of a community that cares deeply.
Thanks to a generous donation from John and Mary Ann Crayton, we’ve been able to get this program off the ground. Right now, we have a few dedicated volunteers who write and send these letters once a month.
But here's the truth: the need is bigger than what two people can meet. Our state hospital has just increased their bed space from 600 to 700 people. We’re currently only able to send letters to a small group of the most vulnerable patients, and many others are still waiting for a letter of hope.
Please help us meet this need.
